The Port of Taipei ( Tamshui ) locates at northern area of Taiwan. It lies south of the Tamshui River estuary facing west onto the Taiwan Strait from the foot of Kuanyin Mountain, a prominent landmark. The port of Keelung lies 34 nautical miles east; the port of Taichung is 87 nautical miles south; and the port of Fuchou in Mainland China is just 134 nautical miles to the west. Thus the port of Taipei commands an excellent geographical location.
